clean audit report for UIF fund

The Auditor-General, who at one stage  declared the Fund technically insolvent, issued a clean audit report for the 2005/06 financial year with regard to audit qualifications - a first in many years for the fund.

Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana, who said that he would spare no effort in ensuring that his department cleans up its act, attributes this improvement to the corrective measures that he undertook following the adverse report of the 2003/04 financial year.

These corrective measures include the appointment of a Chief Financial Officer and four senior managers with necessary skills to deal with issues of financial management at the fund. To read the full report,
