two directors resign from absa board

Absa executives Robert Emslie and Peter Mageza have resigned as alternate directors from the Absa Bank board with effect from 22 January 2007.

Their positions at Absa Bank remain unaffected and they will retain their current executive responsibilities.

"The resignations are principally to scale down the size of the Absa Bank board, and follows on from the retirements of Charles Erasmus and Pieter van der Merwe from the Absa Bank board in December 2006," the banking group said in a statement on Tuesday.
