Get your EE in
24 July 2009
The department of labour is embarking on nationwide roadshows to remind employers of the looming deadline to submit their Employment Equity (EE) reports. The roadshows would kick off in the Northern Cape and Mpumalanga.
New amended regulations aimed at making reporting by employers short and easy will be demonstrated at the roadshows.
Boikanyo said the new abridged method had resulted from numerous complaints by employers about the lengthy forms they had to complete.
"While the new method entails simplified forms, the data and the integrity of the system have not been sacrificed," he said. "We would, however, also urge for the continued use of on-line report-filing by companies ahead of the October 1 deadline.
"However, Boikanyo said filling in the forms was not the only EE requirement as the real work was in reporting on the progress made in the workplace with regard to transformation. "This entails consultation, audit and analysis as well as proper employment equity plans and the achievement of numerical goals," said Boikanyo.
Northern Cape employers could contact Anne Du Plessis on 053-838-1537 for more information.
In Mpumalanga employers can reach Georgina Malatasi on 013-655-8789 or Tony Mphahlele on 079-986-9850.
