The finance ministry invited members of the public to send in tips for the annual Tips for Trevor campaign ahead of the country's national budget speech in February.

The campaign, which runs throughout the year, has become a forum through which finance minister Trevor Manuel assesses public sentiment on government's macro-economic policies.

"Since the 2007 Budget Speech the Ministry has received over 600 tips covering tax, macro-economics, social, and light hearted issues," the ministry said in a statement.

Tips can be sent to the minister before he delivers the budget speech in Parliament on 20 February.
