Lawyers who give free legal advice to needy or disadvantaged people can now expect to get credits or recognition for their efforts. The Law Society of the Free State has accepted a pro bono rule and have initiated a pro bono help desk at their Zastron Street, Bloemfontein offices.
All Attorneys and Advocates willing to undertake such pro bono work, will be put on a list from which the appropriate lawyers will be chosen for a qualifying client.
The fact that recognition is now being given should make the law fraternity more willing to give of their time and expertise in order to help disadvantaged people in need of free legal advice.
