Selebi wins document battle
20 February 2009

The Johannesburg High Court has ordered the Scorpions to hand over almost all the documents National Police Commissioner Jackie Selebi wants to prepare for his trial. In a ruling on 20 February 2009, Judge Nico Coetzee ordered that Selebi get almost all of the 57 documents he wanted. These include phone records, a diary, and statements.

Selebi is accused of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.  His attorney Wynanda Coetzee said Selebi was "very glad" when told of the order. "Now we can go ahead and prepare. We have almost everything." Coetzee said.

Selebi goes on trial on April 14.
