Attending a vacation programme is the ideal opportunity for law students to get a feel for what it is like to work in a law firm, and to build a sound foundation for their future as aspiring legal practitioners. Last month PH Attorneys hosted their annual winter vacation programme and no less than six talented, optimistic and enthusiastic law students attended this incredible initiative. 

The programme kicked off with friendly introductions and visits to the different PH Attorneys offices. Thereafter students received insights into law firm marketing, legal research skills, law firm compliance as well as financial principles. 

During the course of the week experienced professionals in different departments at the firm provided information sessions in their areas of expertise, including tax, company law, conveyancing, court processes, appeals, family law, and many others. Practical sessions provided students with first-hand experience in legal research, drafting of various legal documents and summons, litigation, as well as consultation and negotiation. Students were also taken on tours to the Master of the High Court, the Deeds Office, Magistrates Court, High Court, Motion Court as well as the Advocate Chambers.

PH Attorneys closed off the week with mock individual interviews, and an exciting debate competition between the students where they demonstrated their advocacy skills and applied the legal knowledge gained throughout the week.

Finally, during an enjoyable cocktail function, PH Attorneys said goodbye to the students. We are positive they walked away feeling inspired and motivated, and with the valuable knowledge and experience received and meaningful connections made, these students are now better equipped for their legal journey ahead.
