Their main service areas are commercial solutions, litigation, property transactions, mediation, negotiations, employment related matters, drafting of effective understandable contracts and all property and business related legal work while paying specialised focus on land reform projects.

They have a special understanding of the agricultural business and their property division continuously assists clients in the selling and purchasing of agricultural businesses, farms and other properties. Their aim is to structure transactions in an innovative and positive manner.

Gerrit van Vuuren, director of Joubert van Vuuren was the founder of the land reform initiative, Partners in Agri Land Solutions (“PALS”) that focuses on land transformation in an economically sustainable manner and which initiative is in line with the National Development Plan. Witzenberg PALS NPC was registered and Joubert van Vuuren is the appointed legal and strategic advisor for PALS.

The PALS initiative has expanded nationally with the registration of Maluti Farming PALS NPC (Free State), Mpumalanga PALS NPC and PALS projects in the Eastern Cape, South Cape, North West Province and other areas. The endorsement of the President, the national government and organised agriculture have created more momentum to roll out this private-sector initiative nationally.

The aim is to establish PALS centres in each region where commercial farming plays a vital role. The PALS framework is a practical and proven structure based on business principles and a sound legal basis. The key is to address sustainability, critical success factors and issues of mistrust. It includes the use of a company as operational entity, mentorship and management agreements, options and rights of first refusal to protect the property and shareholders. Profit-sharing for the larger employee group marketing and finance agreements and dispute resolution mechanisms are also included in the PALS framework.

Joubert van Vuuren was instrumental in the implementation of many high value sustainable agri-enterprises in terms of the PALS framework.

The firm combines the experience of senior attorneys with the energy and passion of young dynamic attorneys. Their aim is to be a cohesive team focused on finding creative, cost-effective, time-efficient and practical solutions for clients. The team consists of two Directors, one Senior Associate, one Associate as well as two Candidate Attorneys.

Furthermore, through their involvement in sports clubs, community projects, organised business and local affairs, they have always been part of the Ceres community.
