Based in Brooklyn, Pretoria, a rich history is what has defined them as VDT Attorneys Inc. With over 80 years of experience, they have grown into a firm with a high level of expertise and an advanced work ethic.  what

Since their establishment in 1932, they have developed strong professional relationships with significant clients driven by honesty and excellence founded on integrity, trust and independence, and sound financial and ethical policies.

Having survived, changed, grown and prospered over several decades, they have become a prominent law firm with a successful track record in delivering the best results.

They are founded on and continue to adhere to several guiding principles that have provided the pillars of their culture.  These principles revolve around trust, integrity, a strong work ethic and client service orientation, which results in a culture that creates custom-made and effective solutions.

They also foster a cooperative environment, with departments and individuals who support each other to provide the best possible solutions to their clients' problems and needs.

Apart from their strong property, litigation and commercials divisions, they are especially renowned for their correspondent practices, with the firm accepting instructions from correspondent attorneys country-wide. These correspondent relationships are fostered and supported through excellent support services, a direct line of communication with several government offices, as well as expertise and knowledge in all fields of property law and conveyancing.

Contributing to the community as a team has encouraged our staff and played an evident role to those in need.

They annually facilitate the VDT/Beeld Children's Fund Golf day to raise funds for the Beeld Children's Fund, which actively tries to empower and develop children as far as possible. By doing this, the cycle of poverty is broken and welfare increases. They have stayed committed to giving back and a total amount of R1 768 770 has been donated to the Fund over the past 12 years. These funds are utilised for the basic and therapeutic needs of many homeless, orphaned and disabled children.

They combine timeless experience to contribute a high level of expertise and an advanced work ethic to our firm.  With a national footprint, their team includes eight directors, two associate directors, one senior associate, seven associates, eight candidate attorneys, and eighty employees in total. They operate as a single unit in partnership with clients, focusing on their unique needs.

The firm has become the best in specific specialities and can offer a client the utmost in service and support.  Their areas of expertise include Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Corporate & Commercial Contracting, Property & Conveyancing, Correspondent conveyancing, Estate planning, Tax & administration, Data Privacy and also B-BBEE Advisory.

Over the past two years the firm’s Commercial Law and Tax department has developed a niche practice area in respect of data protection, enabling them to service clients both domestically (POPIA) and abroad (GDPR).  They are privileged to have developed strong partnerships with global organisations such as OneTrustRUBiQ and EPI-USE Labs, which have enabled them to advocate for data protection and related services across a range of industries.  Their dedicated online legaltech solution, www.popipack.co.za is also part of this service offering.

They are also delighted to share further information about the firm’s commitment to the community in which it works.  The initiative that they’d like to highlight is the Annual Courier Day Experience, which they created and implemented a couple of years ago, and which is growing from strength to strength.  Every year on 18 July, Mandela Day, they honour and celebrate the couriers who so faithfully deliver their documents and who they have come to know and love.  Anyone who works in legal services will know that we cannot do our work without these unsung heroes. They prepare a care package for the couriers which consists of a hearty, home-made pie, a cold drink, chocolate, some sweets, some stationery and a message of encouragement.  If you look at the smiles on their faces you can see how much they appreciate this small gesture of recognition.  It makes us happy to see them so happy!
